Danby Fire District, located in the Town of Danby, Tompkins County, New York State is organized to: save lives, suppress and control fires, provide emergency medical services, fire prevention education, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, public assistance during natural emergencies and other activities as deemed in the best interest of the fire district or citizens of the Town of Danby

The Board of Fire Commissioners under provisions of Town Law, Section 176 may adopt rules governing the operation of the fire departments within the district. The Board shall be responsible for management and control over property of the Fire District as prescribed by Town Law Section 176.

The district is served by two Volunteer Fire Departments, Danby and West Danby. Primary coverage area for each department is defined by the boundaries on the District Map. Support will be provided automatically between the two departments in the event of emergency calls in either coverage area. Coverage of a portion of the district primarily in the Coddington Rd. area as defined on the map is provided through contract with the Brooktondale Fire Department.

The Fire Departments are organized to: suppress and control fires, save lives; provide emergency medical services, technical rescue, fire prevention education, hazardous materials response, assist in search for lost or missing persons, public assistance during natural emergencies and other activities as deemed in the best interest of the citizens of the community.
